Scotty McCreery Country Music SingerScott Cooke “Scotty” McCreery was born October 9, 1993 in Garner, North Carolina. In addition to singing he plays piano and guitar. He is the winner of the tenth season of American Idol. It all became a reality on May 25, 2011. This former bag boy for a grocery store in Garner recorded his first album entitled “Clear As A Day” and it was released in October 2011. The album went to certified platinumin the United States. The album contains two top 20 country songs, “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls”. “Scotty” attended Timber Drive Elementary School in Garner and later, West Lake Middle School where he sang at his graduation. He also attended Garner Magnet High School where he joined a vocal ensemble, Die Meistersingers that performs across the United States. He began singing tenor. He won a singing contest called “Clayton Idol” at the Clayton Harvest Festival in Clayton, North Carolina and was one of 36 finalists in a “Rip the Hallways” contest featuring teenage vocalists in North Carolina. He also attended Caswell Youth Retreat in the summer of 2009 and participated in the talent show there singing Long Black by Josh Turner. He auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol in Milwaukee. He was one of the five male vote getters in the semi final round to advance to the Top 13. He has been in constant demand ever since winning American Idol and is projected to be one of its’ most popular stars. He intends to attend college and continue with his career. He has a great fan base and is one of the youngest country stars.
