The Congregations For Children (C4C) Rutherford County knows that together change can happen. And one of the changes they seek to make this summer is to keep children from going hungry.
The spring high school sports season has come to a close, but not without a valiant effort by a couple of teams last week.
R-S Central's softball team (18-5) made the sweet 16, but fell to upstart 11 seed in Parkwood, 3-1 at home to end the season. Parkwood's Caroline Ruth threw a four hitter and the Lady Rebels were able to get just enough run support to end one of Central's greatest softball season's of late. Haley White, who tossed a three hitter, looked good from the pitching circle, but the bats couldn't get going. It's one of just a couple of times that has happened all year long.

The boys are back in town, and this season promises a return to days of baseball past.
The 2015 Forest City Owls team had its first crack at the bat Tuesday night against Columbia Blowfish. Tomorrow night the team will take the field at home against the Florence Redwolves beginning at 7:05 p.m.
May is National Salad Month, and according to saladaday.org, 73 percent of U.S. households serve salad regularly. Lettuce sales exceeds $1 billion, and more than 60 million gallons of salad dressing are consumed annually. These salads, from "That We May Live" by Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, are lettuce free but still satisfying.
