The “church on the hill” was originally a mission church of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City.
Soap like materials dates back to 2800 BC in ancient Babylon. The word sopa is Latin for soap. Liquid Soap was not invented until the 1800’s. In 1865, a man by the name of William Shepphard patented liquid soap.
Playoffs are in full swing and the glass is half full or half empty depending on how you want to look at the situation.
The postseason game of the week for me came at McNair Field this past week as Thomas Jefferson baseball hosted Elkin in the first round of the playoffs.
This week I am going to use Rutherfordton’s Second Baptist Church “Recipes & Memories” cookbook. It’s a cookbook chock full of great recipes. I’m going to get started with one of the most requested breakfast recipe. It is not only good, but by making it the night before, you have time to spend with your guests. It also allows the cook to sleep later than usual.

I’ve always heard that writing is more about perspiration than inspiration. It’s true. Even though it is very fulfilling to write about the outdoors, it is also difficult at times to continue to find worthy subjects and stories. Sometimes my mind soars with information faster than my fingers can type; other times those same fingers seem like they’re waiting impatiently for the next command. During the times of inspiration I can’t wait to get to the computer. During other times I dread its call.

Sat. June 2, 12pm until at Moose Lodge in Forest City for Jimmy Smith who has cancer. Proceeds goes to help family with medical bills, they have no life insurance. Event will consist of food, music & a raffle. Jimmy’s grandson Daniel Foster will start off with a tribute to Elvis. If they are any musicians out there who knows Jimmy, please come out and jam with us. Free admission, donations only.
