It may be a shade early to talk about basketball, but there is some interesting topics to touch on and all of it concerns East Rutherford.
The Cavs leading scorer, rebounder and most tenacious kid of a year ago, Devonte Boykins may be sidelined for the whole basketball season with an ACL injury.
After ACL surgery not too long ago, Boykins could possibly be back in time late February or early March. I definitely hope to see him back to 100 percent as soon as possible and it’s quiet tough for Boykins to deal with in the fact that Wake Forest, etc have shown interest in having him come 2013-14.
We have always believed that Rutherford County was one of the most desirable locations to work, live and play in the entire United States. Our natural gifts of nature and the friendly and great Rutherford County people who offer a tremendous work ethic, is and always has been an ongoing asset. As the single, all encompassing mill business closed down, the county has been going through some rough times. Now, our constant belief in the county, its’ people, great location, and natural assets are being discovered.
It’s canning season and I’ll share some good recipes with you. Let me remind you that your extra effort in canning can result in great gifts for Thanksgiving and especially Christmas. Everyone appreciates homemade goodness at the holidays. They make super gifts and are very appreciated. Is your light on?
Do you remember the first jigsaw puzzle you tried to put together? You probably sat down with a parent or older sibling or maybe even a grandparent and stared at all of those pieces. You wondered to yourself, “How in the world are we going to get all of these tiny pieces to fit together and make that picture?”
I mean, the task seemed impossible, didn’t it?
But then your friend or family member gave you the secret to putting together jigsaw puzzles: Find all of the pieces with straight edges, the outside pieces, and put them in a pile. Put them together first, the four sides to the puzzle, and then you can begin to fill in according to colors.

I love fishing the river. It provides so much more than the occasional fish. From the scenery to maneuvering through rapid water, fishing in the river demands some thought, coordination, and planning, along with the smallmouth that I come to expect. And it also provides a different experience whether one is fishing in a boat or a kayak.
Last week, I met two friends at the river with our kayaks. Now these kayaks are the fishing kind. They have rod holders, places for fishing gear, and they are made to sit on top of and not down in. They are really nimble and easy to maneuver.
