WNCB, out of Rutherford County, held a benefit ride for one of their own, Saturday, May 5th. The family oriented riding club organized the event to help members, Robbie and April Suttle, as they try to manage the financial challenges associated with her cancer treatment.
April, 35 year old mother of two, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of this year. Since then she has undergone chemotherapy and is facing surgery and continuing medical expenses. "She has been so strong and is fighting every day through her sickness and pain." said Robbie, April's husband. "But, it doesn't slow her down." April has continued to work, maintain her home, care for her children and husband, and complete her classes at Isothermal. She plans to transfer those credits to earn a degree as a physical therapist. "She is my ANGEL, MY HOPE AND MY HEART" said Robbie.
Hosted by Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and organized by WNCB, the event was very successful drawing motorcycle enthusiasts from neighboring communities. The christian band, Defenders of the Cross, provided music and many businesses in the county donated door prizes and food items for the event. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Department provided escort to the bikers as they toured the county.
Both Robbie and April would like to express their gratitude to everyone that donated to and participated in the 'ride'. "We can't fix the problem but we can make it easier to get through. God will bless April and she will make it through this - she is a very strong and amazing woman!" said Sherry Seay, organizer of a GoFundMe Page.
